These occasions that were held all the more calmly harmed the resistance than some other strategy the KKK utilized. The KKKs fundamental goal was not for political control, however this thought tagged along in light of the fact that it was a tranquil and lawful approach to pick up control. Texas, Oklahoma, Indiana, Oregon, and Maine all chosen KKK individuals as state authorities or congressmen (Columbia). The chosen authorities places were won ordinarily on the grounds that blacks were not permitted to cast a ballot (Columbia). These tranquil methods for issue with the minorities functioned admirably in light of the fact that this permitted them to endeavor to accomplish their objectives lawfully. After some time, the KKK declined because of a few reasons. Davis C. Stephen was indicted for the homicide of a dark man that made a declination of the KKK during the 1920s (Columbia). This occasion made a decrease in enrollment from 5 million 30,000 by 1930 (Columbia). In 1923, there were not exactly half the same number of lynchings as in 1922. The examination was from 61 lynchings in 1922 to 26 out of 1923. Of the 26 casualties in 1923, one was a shaded ladies and two white men the other 23 casualties were dark guys (KKK). Different reasons that the KKK declined in this timeframe was that the media looked downward on their occasions, and the enthusiasm of the Klan individuals themselves decreased (Benets). State laws additionally prohibit the association from being a mystery society Lepech 5(Columbia). These state laws made it unlawful to assemble furtively and to perform a large number of their activities. Despite the fact that this decrease brought down the numbers, the pioneers despite everything made a major benefit from the offer of KKK gear (Columbia). There was an another last endeavor to revamp the KKK by Dr. Samuel Green, however it fizzled (Columbia). The significant boost of this new KKK development was because of the numerous social liberties exercises during the 1960s (Ingalls). The majority of the individuals in the third KKK were white individuals from an extremely low social financial class (Benets). Despite the fact that this endeavor fizzled, the KKK despite everything proceeds. This cutting edge Klan is little and doesn't have numerous individuals (Trelease). How To Write the Bard College Supplement Bard College is a super small liberal arts school of 2,000 undergraduates in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. The student:faculty ratio is 10:1 and they are serious about liberal arts. Their supplement is brief, but notableâ"hereâs how to tackle their supplemental question:In 250 words or less, how do you imagine yourself living and learning at Bard? This is a relatively textbook, âWhy X School?â essay, just with slightly different wording and a limited word count.Weâd be remiss to not note the âliving and learningâ phrasing in this question. Decide what you want to study (it can be just for the sake of the application. Bard wonât hold you to the major that you declare in your supplement). It can be something youâre passionate about, interested in, or something that you just plain donât hate. If youâre a humanities person and have taken all humanities AP classes, donât choose Math. It wonât compute. The admissions readers will undoubtedl y recognize that something is off. Begin with your own interestâ"make it your own. Tell a short story (it only takes one sentence) about the background of your interest. Mention 1-2 classes that pique your interest and a professor whose research fascinates you. The primary focus of your 250-word response should be your academic focusâ"it is college, after all. But then transition into your cultural contribution to the school and what fascinates you about Bardâs community. Here is where you discuss your interest in specific aspects of Bard that make it unique. Perhaps itâs the locationâ"Annandale-on-Hudson is technically not even a town. Itâs a hamlet within the town of Red Hook, NY in Hudson County. The hamlet of Annandale is owned nearly completely by Bard College, save for a few private residences. Itâs a fascinating set of circumstances if you want to study Environmental an d Urban Studies, for example. We digress. Versions of ââ¬Å"Normalâ⬠What is normal? Can anyone really describe what the word ââ¬Å"normalâ⬠even means? The Merriam-Webster dictionary describes ââ¬Å"normalâ⬠as an adjective that is usual or ordinary; something that is not strange. However, in life we all have our own definition and version of what normal is. Some people find going to school and studying everyday normal but others find working for a living normal. Some people use vulgar language and some go to church and donââ¬â¢t. We all create our own personal versions of what normal means to us. In the 1980s, the Kentucky school board in Graves County thought the book, As I Lay Dying was the furthest thing from what they considered to be ââ¬Å"normalâ⬠. William Faulkner didnââ¬â¢t put censorship into consideration when he was writing this book, in the year 1930, so it caused great controversy. The Tragedy Of Sophocles Antigone - 928 Words
Antigone Antigone was written in 441 BC by the Greek playwright Sophocles. The play is set in the ancient city of Thebes. Women were not recognized of importance in ancient Athens, so in turn they were not allowed to attend the plays and any character that was a woman was to be played as a man, wearing a mask.
